18-year-old represent SA at World Skipping Rope Championships
Malusi Tumtumana an 18-year-old matric student at Usasazo High School in Khayalitsha represented South Africa at the Rope Skipping World Championships in Florida, USA recently.
Malusi was placed 20th, 30 second speed with a score of 152 skips.
He told PEOPLE’S CHOICE: “It was an awesome experience.
“It was a dream come true to represent South Africa.
“It inspired me to continue my dream to be a medalist in the future.”
Malusi was introduced to gymnastics about seven years ago.
He excelled in rope skipping and rapidly moved through the ranks.
However, Malusi said he owes his successes to his couch and mentor, Masixole Faleni, ex world gymnastics champion.
Felani told PEOPLE’S CHOICE: “His even more motivated than ever.
“His been motivating and mentoring other skippers in his group.”
The national manager program manager Keo Mokolopo said he is ‘very proud’ of his performance.
“This is a great achievement for South African sport.”
